Caerddaniel Holiday Home Park is an elevated Park which has 345 pitches (5 Hire), and accepts tents without electric hook-up facility. The Park slopes towards the beach and sea and is on a medium gradient which would make it hard for those with walking difficulties or in wheelchairs to go directly to the beach.

There is however a much more gentle way, but it would take longer. It is only a minute drive from anywhere on the Park to the beach.

Getting to Caerddaniel

Own Transport

Caerddaniel Holiday Home Park is 2.5 miles north of Barmouth and is situated on the main coastal road (A496) between Barmouth and Harlech. From Barmouth, you head north towards Harlech passing through Llanaber. Keep going along this main road until you see a very long straight stretch. Caerddaniel is the next two entrances on the left.

From Harlech, continue south along the main road passing through Llanbedr, Dyffryn and Tal-y-Bont, until you reach a long stretch with the Wayside Inn on the left hand side. Caerddaniel is the next two entranced on the right.

Public Transport

The nearest Train Station is Llanaber, however this is a requested stop and has a steep hill to the main road and a 1 mile walk to Caerddaniel.

It is advisable to disembark at Barmouth Train Station as it has its own disabled access facilities. From there the Bus Station is just a hundred yards away and visible from the Train Station. The Bus Stop for Caerddaniel Holiday Home is on the main A496 Barmouth to Harlech Road, and right on the Main Entrance.

Barmouth is the best place to join the public transport system. Ask the driver for Caerddaniel Holiday Home Park.

Caerddaniel Entrances

Caerddaniel can clearly be seen from both directions on the main road and is on the long straight stretch part of the A496 in Llanaber. It has two entrances and is clearly signposted. Access to the Park via these entrances is not restricted and visibility is very good. Both entrances have a medium slope tarmaced road leading down to Reception.

Park Roads

The Park roads are tarmac and link to all areas. There are no pavements, and the roads are white lined. There are some low speed bumps in some areas of the Park which operates a general 10MPH speed limit (5MPH where stated). There is full lighting around the Park on the roads.

Holiday Homes

The Holiday Homes that are for hire are situated together at the top of the Park overlooking Cardigan Bay and the surrounding area. There is parking adjacent to these units and a balcony to the Holiday Home door (See Access Statements For Hire Holiday Homes).

Camping Areas

Caerddaniel has camping fields which are all on a gradient, however some areas are steeper than others. These areas are grassy and do vary depending on where you are on the Park. Disabled people would find the topsof the camping area to be very awkward and are recommended to camp lower down. There are no designated camping pitches anywhere on Caerddaniel and reservations can not be made. The camping areas do not have roads on them but vehicles can drive on the grass to reach the preferred spot. Parking is allowed adjacent to tents.

Reception

The Reception area is spacious and has a settee near the main entrance. The main entrance has a 9” step and the door is 33” wide. This entrance may have a ramp and hand rail fitted in the near future. The second entrance has a 2” step and the door is also 33” wide. This entrance may have a ramp and hand rail fitted in the near future. Both entrances are unrestricted. Access is recommended through the second entrance.

The counter in Reception has a Disabled Access Information Point at one end with a hatch way. There is a lamp with bright bulb and copies of the regulation and rules in bigger fonts available.

The Reception is well lit with 21 ceiling lights and extra lights on a rail. Staff are on hand to help with any difficulties people may have regarding a variety of disabilities.

Shop/Takeaway

The Shop is quite small but can be navigated with a wheelchair. Staff are available to assist with any queries or problems this might cause. There is 5” step and the door way is 35” wide. The Takeaway can be reached from inside the shop as well as a hatchway or opening to the side.

Due to its size, the Shop/Takeaway access might be a problem for disabled people so it is advisable for those with difficulties to be escorted around by a friend. The Shop/Takeaway is located at the top of the Park. There is plenty of natural light as well as many fluorescent tube lighting.

The counter for purchasing goods is low enough for wheelchair users.
